It also sits squarely in the zone the police describe as above the Kordelio-Evosmos peripheral road, where repeated 2025 and 2026 operations stopped large numbers of people and vehicles.

This is the zone the Hellenic Police keep returning to: successive operations in 2025 and 2026 were described as taking place in the area above the Kordelio-Evosmos peripheral road, with large numbers of people and vehicles stopped. In August 2026 one such sweep checked 164 people and 116 vehicles in a morning. The pattern is visible-presence policing and traffic enforcement rather than raids on a crime hotspot.

Set against that, it is a settled neighbourhood with a Sunday flea market on Riga Fereou and a church square.

It is bounded below by the ring road and runs parallel to 25is Martiou street. Because it is recent, it has wider streets, newer blocks and more parking than the old core, and it reads as the most ordinary-suburban part of the municipality. No police release or press report identifies Nea Politeia specifically as a crime location; the reporting that exists is for Evosmos as a whole.

The documented issues here are environmental rather than criminal: residents have pressed for relocation of either the refineries or the homes nearest them, for stricter oversight and for green buffer zones, and the university took thirteen months of air measurements to February 2024 through March 2025 after persistent odour complaints. It is somewhere nobody stays rather than somewhere to avoid: there is no crime record attached to it, only no reason to be there.
