Robbery

Robbery — theft by force or the threat of it — is an offence of the large cities: 55 per 100,000 residents a year in Attica and 35 in Thessaloniki, then Euboea with 17, Achaea with 11 and Boeotia with 10. In most of Greece it is recorded fewer than 5 times per 100,000 residents a year.

Intentional homicide

Intentional homicide averages 0.8 per 100,000 residents a year in Greece. The highest regional rates — Kilkis 1.7, Rethymno 1.5, Evrytania 1.4 — come from a handful of cases in small populations: in Evrytania, with about 20,000 residents, 1.4 per 100,000 is roughly one case every three or four years. These are the rates where a single year would mislead most, which is why every figure here is a four-year average.
