Crime and safety in Evangelistria

Ευαγγελίστρια · District

Modelled estimate — how it is made
38/100

By type of crime

Evangelistria scores 38 out of 100 (modelled estimate, Eurostat 2021–2024) for overall safety — above-average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. Evangelistria has no police figures of its own. Its estimate is Piraeus's rate — Piraeus scores 37 for overall safety — and the 1 point between them comes from how the model shares Piraeus's total out, not from anything measured in Evangelistria. An estimated 11,307 people live there: the 2021 census counts the surrounding community as a whole, and this is its share by area.

The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate of Greece as a whole and every doubling of the rate costs the same points, so any two places compare directly. How the scores are made

What Evangelistria is actually like

Ordinary precautionsThe usual precautions apply. The note lists anything specific to this place.

A dense central district just above Pasalimani, named for its church, built with the neighbouring old people's home at the end of the 19th century. Its axes are Leoforos Grigoriou Lampraki and Tzavella, which climbs toward Kastella hill, meeting at the church. One of the most heavily populated parts of the city, with many students because the University of Piraeus sits alongside it at Karaoli & Dimitriou 80. Profitis Ilias's Thursday street market (laiki), 07:30-15:30, moves between streets during the year, and one of its spots, Voulgari street, is inside the district.

After dark

Student-flavoured and reasonably lively on Lampraki and around the university; the steeper residential lanes toward Kastella go quiet. Nothing documented specifically here in 2024-26.

Staying here

Central, cheap and a short walk down to Zea or across to Dimotiko Theatro metro. A sensible mid-range base before a ferry, especially if you want to eat somewhere that is not a port kebab shop.
