What Katirli is actually like
One of the smallest of Kalamaria's refugee subdivisions, named after Katirli on the Sea of Marmara and usually paired in municipal records with neighbouring Kouri as Kouri-Katirli. The church of Agios Ioannis Prodromos sits in this settlement. It is a handful of residential blocks rather than a neighbourhood with a centre, and it has no coverage of its own in police releases, press or travel writing. Anything said about its safety is really being said about Kalamaria. The nearest weekly street market (laiki) is Saturday's on Makrochoriou street, about 400 m beyond its edge.
