Beyond that it is unremarkable dense housing with neighbourhood shops. Note the name is shared with a much larger Athens suburb and with Kato Ilioupoli in Evosmos, which muddies searches badly. Its weekly street market (laiki) is on Mondays, 07:00-14:30, on Boumpoulinas street between Thermopylon and Oraiokastrou; the market is listed as Ano Ilioupoli.
