A northern district of the city, extending between Zavlani and Sychaina in the area beyond the new Archaeological Museum, and consisting mainly of newly built apartment blocks. It absorbed the older Kavoukaki pocket and now reads as one of the more modern residential quarters in Patras: wide roads, recent construction, families and a substantial student population because it is on the convenient side for the University of Patras at Rio. There is nothing here for a short-stay visitor except the museum. Against the older inner districts it is greener, newer and considerably duller, and it is absent from every police and press crime listing in the 2024-2026 record.
Quiet and suburban, with decent lighting on the main roads and less on side streets. Student housing keeps some late activity going. No documented incidents or patrol priorities.
Fine for a longer stay, especially if you are at the university, and handy for the Archaeological Museum. Poor for an early Italy ferry — you are on the wrong side of the city, 6-7 km from the South Port gates.
