Crime and safety in Anthoupoli

Ανθούπολη · District

Modelled estimate — how it is made
51/100

By type of crime

Anthoupoli scores 51 out of 100 (modelled estimate, Eurostat 2021–2024) for overall safety — average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. Anthoupoli has no police figures of its own, so its estimate is Patras's: both score 51 for overall safety. An estimated 4,409 people live there: the 2021 census counts the surrounding community as a whole, and this is its share by area.

The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate of Greece as a whole and every doubling of the rate costs the same points, so any two places compare directly. How the scores are made

What Anthoupoli is actually like

Ordinary precautionsThe usual precautions apply. The note lists anything specific to this place.

A northern district of the city, extending between Zavlani and Sychaina in the area beyond the new Archaeological Museum, and consisting mainly of newly built apartment blocks. It absorbed the older Kavoukaki pocket and now reads as one of the more modern residential quarters in Patras: wide roads, recent construction, families and a substantial student population because it is on the convenient side for the University of Patras at Rio. There is nothing here for a short-stay visitor except the museum. Against the older inner districts it is greener, newer and considerably duller, and it is absent from every police and press crime listing in the 2024-2026 record.

After dark

Quiet and suburban, with decent lighting on the main roads and less on side streets. Student housing keeps some late activity going. No documented incidents or patrol priorities.

What to watch for

  • Fast traffic on the arterial roads at night
  • Standard home and vehicle security in a new-build residential area

Staying here

Fine for a longer stay, especially if you are at the university, and handy for the Archaeological Museum. Poor for an early Italy ferry — you are on the wrong side of the city, 6-7 km from the South Port gates.
