Perivola scores 57 out of 100 (modelled estimate, Eurostat 2021–2024) for property crime — average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. Perivola has no police figures of its own. Its estimate is Patras's rate — Patras scores 55 for property crime — and the 2 points between them come from how the model shares Patras's total out, not from anything measured in Perivola. An estimated 15,516 people live there: the 2021 census counts the surrounding community as a whole, and this is its share by area.
The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate of Greece as a whole and every doubling of the rate costs the same points, so any two places compare directly. How the scores are made

What Perivola is actually like
A suburb in the south-eastern part of Patras, about 6 km from the centre, home to facilities of the Hellenic Open University and the closed Apollon gymnasium with a capacity of 3,500. It is a spread-out residential area of detached houses, newer blocks and open ground on the lower slopes, with a mix of families, staff and students, and the Patras ring road not far off. It borders Riganokampos on the city's eastern edge — Riganokampos is not a separate district in our data, and it sits between here and Eglykada. Against Eglykada it is quieter, less industrial and, importantly, absent from the burglary-hotspot lists. Patras city buses run here: route 706 (Begoulaki - Perivola car park).
After dark
Quiet and spread out, with dark stretches between built-up pockets and unlit open ground toward the eastern edge. Event nights at the Apollon hall bring crowds and traffic. No documented incidents, patrol priorities or burglary listings name Perivola itself.
What to watch for
- Unlit open ground and the approaches toward the eastern edge after dark
- Isolated houses on the outer lanes — normal burglary precautions
- Crowds and traffic around the Apollon hall on event nights
Staying here
Fine for a longer stay if you have a car or are here for the Open University. Not worth it for a short visit, and a poor base for an early Italy ferry at 7-8 km from the South Port gates.
