Begoulaki scores 57 out of 100 (modelled estimate, Eurostat 2021–2024) for property crime — average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. Begoulaki has no police figures of its own. Its estimate is Patras's rate — Patras scores 55 for property crime — and the 2 points between them come from how the model shares Patras's total out, not from anything measured in Begoulaki. An estimated 4,122 people live there: the 2021 census counts the surrounding community as a whole, and this is its share by area.
The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate of Greece as a whole and every doubling of the rate costs the same points, so any two places compare directly. How the scores are made

What Begoulaki is actually like
A southern district that began as a separate settlement and was absorbed as Patras expanded, its name taken from a Turkish landowner of the Ottoman period. It lies near the Glafkos crossing, with Taraboura between it and Zarouchleika. It is plain residential Patras — post-war blocks, older houses, workshops and neighbourhood shops — with a settled local population and no visitor draw at all. Against Zarouchleika, the big district on its other side, it is smaller and carries none of the documented policing attention; against Metamorfosi Sotiros across the river it is older and closer in. An unremarkable, quiet corner of the southern city. Patras city buses run here: route 703 (Begoulaki - Saravali) and route 706 (Begoulaki - Perivola car park).
After dark
Quiet residential streets with modest lighting and little late footfall. The Glafkos river corridor and the industrial edges are dark and empty. No documented incidents, patrol priorities or burglary listings name Begoulaki.

Staying here
Little to book and no reason to choose it over the centre. It is on the southern side, which is the right direction for the Italy ferries, but you would still take a taxi to the South Port gates.
