Nea Krini property crime

Νέα Κρήνη · district

38/100

Nea Krini scores 38 out of 100 for property crimeabove-average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. It is home to about 11,184 people at 12,861 people per km².

The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate for Greece as a whole, 100 the safest end of the scale and 0 the least safe, and every doubling of the rate costs the same number of points wherever you are. Regional units are scored from Eurostat's police-recorded offence rates per 100,000 inhabitants. Greece publishes nothing finer, so municipalities and districts share out their region's measured rate by how built-up they are and by documented local reporting — treat those two levels as an estimate, not a count of reported crime.

What Nea Krini is actually like

A good place to stayQuiet and well-lit, and the sort of place most visitors are pointed to.

The southern seafront quarter, named for Krini (Cesme) in Asia Minor, running down to the marina and the fish tavernas. It has its own metro station on Pontou street since 2025. This is postcard Kalamaria: promenade, moored boats, families out walking, restaurants that fill on summer evenings. There is no Greek-language police or press reporting that singles out Nea Krini for crime - the incidents that do get reported are logged at municipality level, not here.

After dark

Busy and social until late in summer along the water, quieter and residential inland. The seafront strip between Aretsou and Krini was specifically relit by the municipality to improve evening visibility. Ordinary caution on unlit inland side streets is enough.

What to watch for

Staying here

Yes - one of the most pleasant places to stay in the whole urban area, and now directly on the metro.

Reputation against reality. A French guide names 'Nea Krini park' as a night problem spot. No Greek police report, local news item or municipal statement supports this, and the municipality has in fact been adding lighting along this stretch. Treat it as unsourced.
