Profitis Daniil sits at the western edge of the Municipality of Athens, bordering Votanikos, Akadimia Platonos, Kolonos, Sepolia, the Rouf area and the municipality of Aigaleo, and takes its name from the church on Leoforos Athinon. It is a low-rise mix of workshops, warehouses, small industry and modest housing on the city's industrial belt.
Industrial and thinly populated once the workshops shut, with long stretches of blank frontage, poor lighting and very little passing footfall. This is the western manufacturing edge, not a residential centre with people on the street.
There is no reason for a visitor to book here and nothing walkable to see. Anyone offered a conspicuously cheap let in this area should treat the price as the explanation.
Reputation against reality. Frequently confused with the eastern districts because of the saint's name. It belongs with Votanikos, Kolonos and Sepolia — a different half of the city with a different risk profile from Pangrati or Ilisia.
