What Psathopyrgos is actually like
A coastal village of the Rio municipal unit at 5 m, the northernmost settlement of the Peloponnese, where the mountain comes down to the sea, about 15 km in a straight line from Plateia Georgiou in central Patras. The Olympia Odos motorway and the old Corinth-Patras national road run along its southern edge. The village had 640 residents at the 2021 census, and its community, which includes Kato Rodini, 752. A small bay here has long sheltered caiques in rough weather, and Kapodistrias landed here in 1829. Tavernas, beaches and a large summer-house stock; no Patras city bus runs here. It is one of the few outlying settlements with a documented burglary problem, aimed at unoccupied holiday homes.

Staying here
Good for a seaside stay with a car and the best of the northern shore villages for tavernas. Not a base for an early Italy ferry — around 25 km from the South Port gates.
