What Sella is actually like
A mountain village and community of the Rio municipal unit on the slopes of Panachaiko at 452 m, about 13.5 km in a straight line from Plateia Georgiou in central Patras, with 268 residents at the 2021 census (302 in 2011). In 1912 it became the seat of a new community together with Pititsa, which left in 1924. A large Greek camp stood here during the War of Independence, from 1821 until about 1828, and in January 1944 German troops arrested the village's men and set the houses on fire. Today it is a small upland village of stone houses and terraces with an older population and weekend visitors. No Patras city bus runs here, and there is no incident reporting in the 2024-2026 record.
