Kolokyntou scores 31 out of 100 for violent crime — above-average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. It is home to about 4,760 people at 16,579 people per km².
The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate for Greece as a whole, 100 the safest end of the scale and 0 the least safe, and every doubling of the rate costs the same number of points wherever you are. A small western neighbourhood between Kolonos, Akadimia Platonos and the boundary with Aigaleo and Peristeri. It was market gardens until a few decades ago, so it was subdivided later and built lower and less densely than Kolonos — more two- and three-storey houses, more yards, fewer eight-floor blocks. It is entirely residential, with a share of workshops and nuisance uses strung along the Lenorman axis.
Quiet, low-rise and largely unremarkable after dark; the Lenorman end is the busier and rougher edge, the interior streets are simply empty.
There is essentially no visitor accommodation and no reason to look for any. It is a place to live cheaply, not to stay.
Reputation against reality. Usually absorbed into 'Kolonos' in both news coverage and travel advice, which overstates its problems; nothing specific to Kolokynthou appears in the 2026 police plan.
