What Kallipoli is actually like
The dense middle of the peninsula, bounded by Sachtouri, G. Theotoki, Klisovis/Karpathou and St. Dragoumi, touching Chatzikyriakeio, Ydraiika, Peiraiki and Freattyda. Settled first by islanders from Hydra and the Dodecanese, then after 1922 by refugees from Gallipoli in Eastern Thrace, who gave it its name and built the Agia Paraskevi church. Three squares anchor it: Serfiotou, Pigada and the large, family-heavy Karpathou.
After dark
Apartment-block streets with people on balconies and small local bars; the squares stay in use in summer. Nothing documented here in 2024-26 and no police or press attention in the period searched.
Staying here
Good value and very local, about 15-20 minutes' walk to the terminals, but with almost no visitor infrastructure and few late taxis on the smaller streets. Workable for an early ferry if you travel light and book a car ahead.
