Paralias scores 51 out of 100 for overall safety — average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. It is home to about 6,336 people at 618 people per km².
The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate for Greece as a whole, 100 the safest end of the scale and 0 the least safe, and every doubling of the rate costs the same number of points wherever you are. The seat of its own municipal unit on the southern shore, the first of the coastal settlements as you leave Patras heading south-west, with a beach, tavernas and a mix of permanent and summer housing. It was included in the completed municipal sewerage scheme. Paralia Patron is one of the settlements a coastal burglary ring worked between October 2025 and April 2026.
Busy along the shore in summer, quiet out of season, with unlit stretches on the coast road. The documented risk is burglary of houses in morning hours rather than street crime.
A good practical seaside base: it is the nearest of the southern coastal settlements to the city and to the South Port, which makes it one of the few outlying options that genuinely works for an early Italy ferry if you have a car.
