Erythros Stavros is a small institutional pocket of Ampelokipoi named after the Red Cross hospital, wedged between Ampelokipoi proper, Girokomeio and Ellinoroson. The Police Academy and Ministry of Justice buildings are here too. It is clinics, offices and apartment blocks with no square or centre of its own, and no tourist reason to visit.
Empty once office hours end, but the avenues are lit and the constant hospital and police traffic keeps some movement on the street. It reads as dull rather than threatening.
Only worth it for a hospital visit or a posting at one of the institutions. There is almost nowhere to eat; Ilisia or Pangrati offer the same safety with somewhere to go in the evening.
Reputation against reality. Not a named area in any safety discussion, Greek or English. It is a hospital address more than a neighbourhood.
