The coastal stretch belonging to Proastio at the northern approach to Patras, and one of the beaches city residents actually use in summer. It is a low-density shore strip of holiday and permanent houses, beach bars and tavernas that fill up between June and September and go quiet the rest of the year, with Kastelokampos and the university belt immediately north. There is no urban fabric to speak of and nothing to do outside the season. Against Paralia Proastiou it is much the same kind of place; against the inner city it is a different world — suburban, seasonal and calm.
Lively along the beach bars in summer and close to deserted out of season. Lighting is limited away from the venues and the shore road is dark in stretches. No documented incidents name Dafnes itself, though the wider Proastio district is on the police list for residential burglaries.
Good for a summer stay by the sea with a car. Bad for an early Italy ferry: you are north of the city and roughly 11-12 km from the South Port gates, so allow real time.
