Agyia scores 46 out of 100 for violent crime — average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. It is home to about 4,476 people at 618 people per km².
The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate for Greece as a whole, 100 the safest end of the scale and 0 the least safe, and every doubling of the rate costs the same number of points wherever you are. Regional units are scored from Eurostat's police-recorded offence rates per 100,000 inhabitants. Greece publishes nothing finer, so municipalities and districts share out their region's measured rate by how built-up they are and by documented local reporting — treat those two levels as an estimate, not a count of reported crime.
One of the largest neighbourhoods in the city, in the north, divided into Mesi Agyia and Exo Agyia, with a small harbour and promontory on the gulf and a 30-hectare wetland north of the centre. It is partly densely built and partly green, served by bus lines 6 and 9 and the Patras suburban railway, and student guides list it as a convenient base for the university at Rio. A new urban park with lawns, LED lighting, a playground and accessible ramps is being laid out at Exo Agyia. Against Anthoupoli it is bigger, older and more varied; unlike Anthoupoli, it appears in the police patrol priority list.
The built-up streets are ordinary; the shoreline, wetland and open ground are dark and empty after hours. Agyia was one of six districts placed under targeted police patrols in July 2025 following reports of robberies, thefts, burglaries and muggings. Nothing more specific has been located to particular streets here.
Reasonable for a longer stay, particularly for the university, with good bus and suburban rail links. Poor for an early Italy ferry — you are north of the centre and the Italy gates are 6-7 km south.
Reputation against reality. Agyia is on the patrol list but is the least specifically documented of the six: no street, square or incident has been located to it in the 2024-2026 reporting, unlike Prosfygika, Zarouchleika or Psarofai.
