The shore section of Proastio at the northern approach to the city, one of the three parts the district divides into alongside Ano and Kato Proastio. It is a strip of beach, summer houses, permanent homes, tavernas and beach bars used mainly by Patras residents rather than tourists, busy from June to September and quiet the rest of the year. There is no urban fabric and nothing to see out of season. Against Dafnes next along the coast it is near-identical; against Kastelokampos to the north it is less institutional, with no university or hospital traffic to give it a year-round population.
Busy along the beach venues in summer, close to deserted otherwise. Lighting is limited away from the tavernas and the shore road runs dark in stretches. No documented incidents name Paralia Proastiou, though the wider Proastio district is on the police list for residential burglaries.
Good for a summer seaside stay with a car, and there is a reasonable stock of rooms and apartments. Poor for an early Italy ferry — around 11-12 km from the South Port gates, so allow real transfer time.
