A small hill in the 4th municipal district, ringed by Kolonos, Sepolia, Akadimia Platonos and Kolokynthou, named after the banker Georgios Skouzes who bought the land and planted it with olives, pines and cypresses. Around it is interwar housing and a cluster of Cycladic-style homes built by settlers from Mykonos, which makes it one of the more distinctive corners of western Athens. The hill has a cafe-restaurant, views and the church of Agios Aimilianos, and functions as the local park.
The hill and its cafe carry some evening life but the paths are dark once you leave the lit area; the surrounding streets are quiet residential ones.
Not a visitor base, but if you end up in a long-let flat up here you have got the best-looking and greenest patch of the western districts, at the cost of a walk to Sepolia or Attiki metro.
Reputation against reality. Essentially absent from travel writing and from crime reporting alike. The official city guide lists it as one of Sepolia's attractions, which is closer to the truth than the district's blanket reputation.
