Violent crime in Koukouli

Κουκούλι · District

Modelled estimate — how it is made
45/100

By type of crime

Koukouli scores 45 out of 100 (modelled estimate, Eurostat 2021–2024) for violent crime — average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. Koukouli has no police figures of its own. Its estimate is Patras's rate — Patras scores 47 for violent crime — and the 2 points between them come from how the model shares Patras's total out, not from anything measured in Koukouli. An estimated 4,041 people live there: the 2021 census counts the surrounding community as a whole, and this is its share by area.

The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate of Greece as a whole and every doubling of the rate costs the same points, so any two places compare directly. How the scores are made

What Koukouli is actually like

Ordinary precautionsThe usual precautions apply. The note lists anything specific to this place.

A district on the south-eastern side of Patras, bordering Agios Georgios Langoura to the north, Eglykada to the north-east and Perivola to the south-east. It is defined by its institutions: the Pan-Peloponnesian National Sports Centre (PEAK Patras) and the former TEI of Western Greece sit here, which gives it a student and sporting population on top of its residents. Housing is a mix of post-war blocks and newer building on the slope. Against Eglykada next door it has no burglary-hotspot listing, and against Perivola it is closer in and busier. Visitors come for a match or an event, not to stay.

After dark

Quiet outside event nights, when the sports centre generates crowds and traffic. Lighting is adequate around the institutions and patchier on residential streets. No incidents, patrol priorities or burglary listings in the 2024-2026 record name Koukouli.

What to watch for

  • Crowd and traffic pressure around PEAK on event nights
  • Quieter residential streets away from the sports centre after dark

Staying here

Only if you are here for an event or the campus. Little formal accommodation, 3-4 km from the centre and a long way from the ferry gates. Not a base for an early boat.
