Ovria scores 48 out of 100 (modelled estimate, Eurostat 2021–2024) for violent crime — average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. Ovria has no police figures of its own. Its estimate is Patras's rate — Patras scores 47 for violent crime — and the 1 point between them comes from how the model shares Patras's total out, not from anything measured in Ovria. It is home to about 6,308 people (2021 census).
The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate of Greece as a whole and every doubling of the rate costs the same points, so any two places compare directly. How the scores are made

What Ovria is actually like
The largest settlement of the Messatida municipal unit and its former seat, south of the city and effectively a suburb rather than a village, with 6,424 residents at the 2021 census, about 6.5 km in a straight line from Plateia Georgiou in central Patras. It is loosely divided into Ano and Kato Ovrya and the quarters of Profitis Ilias, Laganides, Trapezos and Agios Nikolaos, and grew up after 1950 along the Patras-Tripoli national road (111) and the link road to the Patras-Pyrgos highway; the Patras ring road has an Ovrya interchange. Ordinary suburban housing, schools and shops; no visitor draw and no incident reporting. The municipal market regulation places its weekly street market (laiki) on Germanou street, on Monday mornings. Patras city buses run here: route 801 (Ano Kato Ovrya - Demenika - Profitis Ilias), which stops at Ovrya's 1st primary school and the old Messatida town hall.
After dark
Quiet suburban streets, dark on the lanes between built-up pockets. No documented incidents or patrol priorities name Ovrias.
What to watch for
- Unlit connecting lanes between settlements
- Standard home security for detached houses
Staying here
Fine as a cheap longer-term base with a car. Not useful for a short visit, and a taxi run to the South Port for an early Italy ferry.
