Violent crime in Ities

Ιτιές · District

Modelled estimate — how it is made
45/100

By type of crime

Ities scores 45 out of 100 (modelled estimate, Eurostat 2021–2024) for violent crime — average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. Ities has no police figures of its own. Its estimate is Patras's rate — Patras scores 47 for violent crime — and the 2 points between them come from how the model shares Patras's total out, not from anything measured in Ities. An estimated 3,640 people live there: the 2021 census counts the surrounding community as a whole, and this is its share by area.

The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate of Greece as a whole and every doubling of the rate costs the same points, so any two places compare directly. How the scores are made

What Ities is actually like

Ordinary precautionsThe usual precautions apply. The note lists anything specific to this place.

A southern district whose name means the willows, lying in the belt around the Glafkos toward Lefka and Krya Iteon. It is a plain residential area of post-war housing and small blocks with local shops, schools and a settled population; the local cultural association has campaigned for Ities and neighbouring Lefka to shake off the neglect and downgrading that characterises them, which is a fair description of the place — worn public space rather than crime. Against Krya Iteon next door it is much the same; against Zarouchleika to the north it is smaller and has no documented policing profile of its own.

After dark

Quiet residential streets with patchy lighting and very little late footfall. Police drug reporting names the Lefka workers' housing, adjacent to Ities, among the spots where transactions take place in poorly lit corners, but does not name Ities itself.

What to watch for

  • Poorly lit corners around the adjacent Lefka workers' housing
  • Worn and unlit public space on the Glafkos side
  • Standard home security

Staying here

No — almost nothing to book, nothing to see and no advantage over the centre. Being on the southern side helps marginally for an early Italy ferry, but you would still take a taxi.
