Neo Faliro scores 39 out of 100 for property crime — above-average crime, on a scale where 50 is the average for Greece. It is home to about 16,820 people at 13,556 people per km².
The score is absolute, not a ranking: 50 is the offence rate for Greece as a whole, 100 the safest end of the scale and 0 the least safe, and every doubling of the rate costs the same number of points wherever you are. The eastern edge of Piraeus on Faliro bay, bounded by Thivon to the north and Dodekanisou toward Kaminia, cut off from the sea by the elevated Poseidonos avenue. A stadium district: Karaiskaki, home of Olympiacos, and the SEF arena, plus the ISAP station and the tram terminus. Most visitors come for a match, a concert or the tram.
Ordinary and quiet except on event nights, when crowds, road closures and occasional disorder around Karaiskaki change things; police have identified participants in clashes outside the ground. The municipality's July 2026 meeting flagged the SEF traffic islands as a problem site.
Cheap and well connected, about 10 minutes by metro from the port, but do not book here on a matchday if you value sleep. For an early ferry you are adding a train leg you do not need.
Reputation against reality. Its bad nights are football nights, not a background condition; on a normal Tuesday it is an unremarkable residential district.
